Prime Ministers rally for Wimbledon candidate
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and former Prime Ministers Theresa May and Lord Cameron have actively campaigned in the highly contested three-way marginal seat of Wimbledon since the general election was announced.
Danielle Dunfield-Prayero, the Conservative Party Candidate for Wimbledon & the Maldens, expressed her gratitude for the robust support from these prominent figures, as well as from Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, Transport Secretary Mark Harper, and Security Minister Tom Tugendhat.
Danielle stated, "Wimbledon & the Maldens is a wonderful place to live, work, and visit, and I am committed to keeping it that way.
"Since being selected as your candidate, I've been listening to residents and business owners about their top priorities. Based on those conversations, I've developed a plan to make our area safer, stronger, healthier, greener, better-connected, and brighter for all, especially the next generation.
"I am thrilled with the overwhelming support I've received from volunteers, activists, and my Conservative colleagues, including three current and former leaders of the Conservative Party.
"I'm excited about the upcoming three weeks of campaigning and urge those who value the achievements of local Conservatives under former MP Stephen Hammond and support One Nation Conservatism to join me in this final push."
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined Danielle on the first Saturday after the general election was called. Rishi remarked, "We've called this general election and there's a clear choice: bold action, a clear plan, and a secure future for you and your family with the Conservatives, or no plan and back to square one with Labour. This seat is a three-way marginal, and it's incredibly important that we win here."
On Wednesday, Theresa May campaigned with Danielle in the area she once lived in and represented. Theresa said, "What you can show here in Wimbledon & the Maldens is a candidate who believes in standards in public life, who wants to serve the local community—the local constituents, and who will uphold those standards when elected."
Lord Cameron joined Danielle on Thursday to celebrate the vital work of the Wimbledon-based charity Medical Life Lines Ukraine. David commented, "It's great to be here in Wimbledon with Danielle, who's standing for the Conservatives. Danielle, like me, is a One Nation Conservative, and it's really important that you vote for her on the 4th of July. Not only will she be a hardworking local Member of Parliament, with a lifetime in business and experience and as a mother behind her, but also if you vote for anyone else, the risk is getting a Labour government led by Keir Starmer that will undermine all the important work we've done on getting the economy and our schools back on track and making sure this country moves forward with the security and the prosperity that we need."
Danielle also chaired an online members' briefing with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Home Secretary James Cleverly following the launch of the Conservative Party's manifesto this week.
